Dupahiya Season 2 Review — Gajraj Rao’s Show Returns With Quirky Chaos

Bollywood News: Dupahiya Season 2 brings Gajraj Rao, Sparsh Shrivastava, Shivani Raghuvanshi and Bhuvan Arora back to Dhadakpur. The Prime Video series mixes quirky humour with relevant themes such as exam cheating, paper leaks, social-media misinformation and rural aspirations. While the second season does not consistently match the wit of its predecessor, strong performances and an engaging storyline make it a worthwhile watch.

Dupahiya Season 2 returns to the fictional village of Dhadakpur with another round of eccentric characters, small-town problems and unexpected chaos. Directed by Sonam Nair, the second season brings back Gajraj Rao, Shivani Raghuvanshi, Sparsh Shrivastava, Bhuvan Arora, Renuka Shahane and Yashpal Sharma, while Dinesh Lal Yadav aka Nirahua joins the ensemble.

The new season premiered on Prime Video on October 1, 2026, and once again uses humour to explore everyday issues faced by people in a rural setting.

Dupahiya Season 2 Review: What Is The Story?

The story picks up after the events of the first season, but Dhadakpur is once again caught in a fresh wave of trouble. Banwari Jha, played by Gajraj Rao, has lost his teaching job, while his daughter Roshni is determined to clear her SSC examination and eventually move to a city.

However, Roshni struggles with her studies and eventually considers taking an easier route. She approaches Pratham Kumar, played by Dinesh Lal Yadav, who runs a coaching centre but is secretly involved in an examination cheating and paper-leak racket.

At the same time, Banwari gets an offer involving the installation of a 5G mobile tower on his land. The villagers oppose the plan after misinformation spreads online about the alleged effects of mobile towers. These parallel storylines gradually bring the characters into another complicated situation.

Paper Leak Track Adds Relevance

One of the strongest elements of Dupahiya Season 2 is its examination cheating and paper-leak storyline. The subject gives the otherwise comic series a more serious contemporary layer.

The show explores what happens when students, families and people looking for quick success become willing to compromise on the process. The storyline also raises questions about the consequences of people entering professions through fraudulent means.

Bollywood Hungama noted that this track works particularly well because examination fraud and paper leaks have been significant public issues in recent years. The series uses its humour to approach the subject without completely losing its emotional impact.

Gajraj Rao And Sparsh Shrivastava Stand Out

Gajraj Rao once again brings warmth and credibility to Banwari. Even when the character makes questionable decisions, Rao's performance keeps him relatable rather than turning him into a completely negative figure.

Sparsh Shrivastava is another major highlight. His Bhugol gets involved in an unusual social-media influencer track, giving the actor plenty of opportunities for comic timing and physical humour.

Shivani Raghuvanshi also gets important material as Roshni, particularly through the character's ambitions and struggles. Bhuvan Arora continues to bring a different energy to Amavas, while Dinesh Lal Yadav makes an entertaining addition as Pratham Kumar. Yashpal Sharma also gets more screen time as Inspector Mithilesh Kushwaha.

Does Season 2 Match The First Season?

This is where the new season is slightly inconsistent. Bollywood Hungama gave the series 3.5 stars and noted that although the humour and performances remain effective, the overall wit does not consistently reach the level of Season 1.

There are also moments where the tone suddenly shifts from comedy to seriousness. Some transitions may feel abrupt, while certain developments in the climax appear convenient.

Hindustan Times similarly observed that the charm of Dhadakpur remains intact but the story takes several detours, making the overall ride somewhat uneven.

The Quirky World Of Dhadakpur Still Works

Despite these shortcomings, the biggest strength of Dupahiya Season 2 is its setting. Dhadakpur feels like a familiar small-town world where rumours spread quickly, ordinary problems become major crises and characters often find unusual solutions to their troubles.

The humour largely comes from the characters and their situations instead of being forced into every scene. This helps the show maintain the easygoing charm that made the first season appealing.

Another review from Moneycontrol praised the series for retaining its warmth, humour and small-town madness, while noting that the second season does not quite match its predecessor.

Dupahiya Season 2 Review: Final Verdict

Dupahiya Season 2 is not a perfect follow-up, but it remains an entertaining return to Dhadakpur. Its strongest points are the performances, quirky characters, relevant paper-leak storyline and the show's ability to find humour in ordinary situations.

The season may be slightly less consistent and less witty than the first, but viewers who enjoyed the original should still find enough familiar charm here. Bollywood Hungama rated it 3.5 stars, calling it an entertaining and relevant follow-up.

With its blend of rural comedy, family drama and contemporary social issues, Dupahiya Season 2 offers a breezy OTT watch while giving its characters some meaningful new challenges.
