The True Celebration of Diwali
For Jackie, the essence of Diwali lies in illuminating others’ homes. This year, he plans to celebrate the festival with his wife and son, Tiger Shroff. “If there’s no urgent shooting, we’ll celebrate at home,” he shared, adding that he intends to visit orphanages and old age homes to distribute sweets.
Childhood Memories of Diwali
Recalling his childhood, Jackie said, “While others were lighting expensive firecrackers, I would sit on the roof, watching the colorful bursts in the sky. I couldn’t afford them, but I would collect the unlit ones at night.” In Maharashtra, Diwali is marked by a variety of delicacies, and Jackie fondly mentioned preparing snacks like chakli, laddoo, and gujiya.
A Special Gift for His Mother
Jackie reminisced about the first special gift he bought for his mother during Diwali—a gold coin. “It meant a lot to me. The intention behind giving gifts matters,” he emphasized. He believes that pleasing Goddess Lakshmi requires a thoughtful approach to sharing wealth.
Teaching the Importance of Giving to His Children
Jackie prefers giving blessings to his children rather than money. “I always tell them to share with others. It brings true happiness,” he stated. For him, the real celebration of Diwali occurs when we help those in need.
Faith and Tradition
Jackie mentioned Tiger’s devotion to Lord Hanuman, noting, “He reads the Hanuman Chalisa daily. I am a devotee of Lord Rama myself.” Diwali celebrates Lord Rama’s return to Ayodhya, and Jackie cherishes the opportunity to celebrate it with his family.
This Diwali, Jackie Shroff’s reflections remind us of the true meaning of the festival—it’s not just about lights and firecrackers, but about sharing joy and uplifting one another.
