The investigation into the death of celebrity manager Disha Salian has entered another significant phase after her father, Satish Salian, submitted a detailed statement to authorities and demanded severe punishment for anyone ultimately found responsible for her death.
According to reports, Satish has sought either life imprisonment or the death penalty, saying that those responsible should receive the punishment prescribed under law. His latest statement comes shortly after the Central Bureau of Investigation registered an FIR in the case following directions from the Bombay High Court.
Satish has alleged that his daughter’s dignity was violated and has asked investigators to examine the circumstances surrounding her death as well as what he describes as a possible cover-up.
His allegations remain part of the investigation and have not been established as facts by a court.
Several High-Profile Names Mentioned in the Statement
Satish Salian and his lawyer have named several prominent people whose roles they want the investigating agency to examine.
Reports citing the statement and the FIR mention Aaditya Thackeray, actors Dino Morea and Sooraj Pancholi, their bodyguards, Rohan Roy and Rhea Chakraborty, along with former Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh, Sachin Vaze, former DCP Vishal Thakur and a former inspector of Malwani police station.
The FIR also refers to police officers, forensic personnel and others whose roles are to be examined as part of the investigation.
Importantly, the presence of a person's name in an FIR or a complainant's statement does not by itself establish criminal involvement or guilt. The Bombay High Court's September 2 order specifically cautioned that nobody should be treated as an accused unless the investigating officer finds sufficient material against that person.
CBI Has Now Formally Taken Up the Investigation
The latest development follows the Bombay High Court's decision to direct the CBI to investigate Disha Salian's death.
The CBI subsequently registered an FIR and formed a team to begin the probe. The agency's FIR, according to reports, deals with allegations including murder, gang rape, destruction or disappearance of evidence and possible offences involving public servants. However, the Economic Times reported that the FIR itself does not name anyone as an accused.
The investigation is therefore still at an early stage.
The agency will now have to examine the available evidence, statements, forensic material and other records before determining whether a prosecutable offence has been established and whether any individual should face criminal charges.
What Happened to Disha Salian in 2020?
Disha Salian, who worked as a celebrity manager, died in Mumbai in June 2020. Her death occurred just days before actor Sushant Singh Rajput died, which subsequently led to intense public interest and speculation connecting the two cases.
At the time, Mumbai Police recorded an Accidental Death Report (ADR). Police later concluded that there was no evidence of foul play, while a state-appointed Special Investigation Team also reportedly found no evidence suggesting criminal involvement.
Satish Salian later changed his position and approached the Bombay High Court seeking an independent investigation, alleging that his daughter had been raped and murdered.
The High Court eventually ordered a CBI probe in September 2026 after considering the circumstances raised in the petition.
Court Has Asked Investigators to Follow the Evidence
One of the most important aspects of the current case is the Bombay High Court's caution regarding allegations against individuals.
While directing the CBI investigation, the court made it clear that people should not automatically be treated as accused merely because their names appear in allegations or statements. The investigating officer must first determine whether sufficient material exists against them.
The court also directed that if the investigation establishes a cognisable offence, the CBI should proceed with the appropriate legal process. If no such offence is established, the agency can file the appropriate closure proceedings.
That means the investigation will ultimately be driven by evidence rather than simply by the names mentioned in statements.
Sooraj Pancholi Has Denied Any Connection With Disha
Among the actors whose names have resurfaced in the case is Sooraj Pancholi.
Pancholi has publicly denied ever meeting Disha Salian, either directly or indirectly. He has also denied having any connection with Aaditya Thackeray and said that he is willing to cooperate with the CBI investigation.
His statement is significant because his name has repeatedly appeared in public discussion around the case since 2020.
However, his denial and the allegations made by Disha's father are separate positions that will have to be assessed by investigators through evidence.
Why the Case Has Returned to the Spotlight
For more than six years, Disha Salian's death remained surrounded by public speculation. The formal CBI investigation has now given the case a new legal dimension.
The latest statement from her father adds another development, particularly because he has publicly demanded the harshest punishments available under law for anyone ultimately found responsible.
