Dhvani Bhanushali Says Artists Are Allowed To Fail And Find Their Way

Bollywood News: Dhvani Bhanushali opens up about the fear, pressure and self-doubt she experienced during her acting debut in Kahan Shuru Kahan Khatam. As the film arrives on JioHotstar, the singer-actor recalls her nerve-racking first day on set, the challenge of playing Meera and the importance of allowing artists to fail, learn and discover their path.

Dhvani Bhanushali is looking back at one of the most challenging chapters of her career as Kahan Shuru Kahan Khatam makes its OTT debut. The singer, who had already established herself through playback singing and music videos, stepped into a completely different space with the romantic comedy. In an exclusive conversation with Mid-Day, Dhvani opened up about the anxiety she experienced before and during her first acting project.

The film, which stars Dhvani opposite Aashim Gulati, began streaming on JioHotstar on October 1, 2026. Directed by Saurabh Dasgupta and written by Laxman Utekar, the story follows Meera, a young woman who runs away from her own wedding and unexpectedly crosses paths with Krish, leading to a series of comic misunderstandings and an unlikely romance.

Dhvani Bhanushali Feared Audience Reactions

For Dhvani, the biggest concern was not simply moving from music to acting. Instead, she was worried about how audiences would react to seeing her in an entirely different role.

She explained that the fear was about whether people would accept her in a new avatar. Looking back, she said growing older brought insecurities that she did not experience as much during childhood.

Dhvani recalled being much more fearless when she was younger and willing to volunteer for almost anything. However, as she grew older, doubts began to creep in. After completing the film, she found herself wondering about how the audience would respond.

Eventually, she realised that the work had already been done and there was little point in allowing those fears to control her.

Playing Meera Was Very Different From Music Videos

One of the biggest challenges for Dhvani was understanding the difference between performing as herself and portraying a fictional character.

In music videos, audiences generally see Dhvani as herself. But Kahan Shuru Kahan Khatam required her to completely step into Meera's personality.

Dhvani described Meera as more introverted than herself. While she considers herself someone who enjoys talking, expressing herself and being more open, Meera tends to keep her emotions inside.

That difference made the experience particularly demanding. Dhvani explained that a music video tells a story within a few minutes, whereas a film requires an actor to sustain a character and emotional journey for several hours.

Despite finding it daunting, she also described the experience as enriching because she had the opportunity to work alongside experienced actors and learn from them.

Her First Day On Set Was Nerve-Racking

Dhvani's first day of filming remains one of the strongest memories from her acting debut.

She admitted that she was extremely scared and struggled to speak properly. At one point, she was told that she needed to be more audible, but the pressure made it difficult for her to get the words out.

She described the feeling as having a pit in her stomach, with the words simply not coming out.

Director Laxman Utekar helped her overcome the nervousness. Rather than allowing her to become overwhelmed, he reminded her that even experienced actors can struggle on their first day.

His advice helped Dhvani understand that she did not need to put unnecessary pressure on herself. She simply needed to trust her preparation, relax and concentrate on the scene.

Dhvani On Trolls, Pressure And Public Opinion

The experience also made Dhvani think about the pressure artists face when their work is constantly judged in public.

For performers who already have a large audience, entering a new field can invite immediate comparisons and criticism. A singer moving into acting, for example, can face expectations even before audiences have seen the complete performance.

Dhvani acknowledged that artists sometimes forget the human side of the person behind the performance. She believes artists should be allowed to make mistakes, learn from them and understand where they want to go next.

Rather than allowing outside opinions to dominate her thinking, she said she tries to quiet that noise and remind herself that it is okay.

Kahan Shuru Kahan Khatam Gets A New OTT Life

The OTT release gives Kahan Shuru Kahan Khatam another opportunity to reach viewers who may not have watched it during its theatrical run.

The film originally arrived in cinemas in September 2024 and marked Dhvani Bhanushali's acting debut. Its JioHotstar premiere on October 1, 2026, brings the story to a much wider home audience.

The film's story revolves around Meera's decision to escape an arranged marriage. During her getaway, she encounters Krish, played by Aashim Gulati, and a misunderstanding involving her family sets off a chain of comic situations. Romance, family drama and wedding chaos form the central elements of the narrative.

For Dhvani, however, the film represents more than another title in her filmography. It remains the project through which she discovered what it feels like to carry a fictional character, face the uncertainty of audience reactions and overcome the fear of getting things wrong.

A Learning Experience For Dhvani

Dhvani's reflections on Kahan Shuru Kahan Khatam highlight the less visible side of an actor's first film. While audiences usually see the finished performance, the journey can involve nervousness, self-doubt and the pressure to prove oneself.

Her experience also underlines why the transition from one creative field to another can be challenging even for an established performer.

For Dhvani Bhanushali, the journey from music videos and playback singing to acting has become a learning experience. Her message that artists should be allowed to fail and figure things out reflects the uncertainty that often comes with trying something new.

As Kahan Shuru Kahan Khatam reaches JioHotstar, viewers now have another opportunity to watch the film while understanding the personal journey Dhvani went through while bringing Meera to life.
