The festive season has brought a wave of celebrations across the country, with Bollywood celebrities joining millions of people in marking Dhanteras 2026. Several actors took to social media on Friday, November 6, to share warm wishes with their fans and followers. Among those spreading festive cheer were Rajpal Yadav, Akshay Kumar, Shilpa Shetty and Sonali Bendre.
Dhanteras, which marks the beginning of the five-day Diwali celebrations, is traditionally associated with prosperity, good health and new beginnings. While buying gold, silver, utensils and other valuables is a popular custom, the festival also carries a deeper message about family, well-being and gratitude. This sentiment was reflected in the messages shared by several film personalities.
Rajpal Yadav Shares a Heartfelt Message About the Meaning of Wealth
Actor Rajpal Yadav used the occasion to share a thoughtful message about what truly makes a person wealthy. Known for his comic performances and memorable characters, the actor looked beyond the traditional association of Dhanteras with money and precious metals.
In his Instagram post, Rajpal highlighted that wealth should not be measured only by the amount of money or gold and silver a person owns. He described the love of family, the support of loved ones, meaningful relationships and good health as treasures that are equally valuable.
His message also emphasised that true happiness comes from having people around who care, a smile on one's face and peace in one's heart. He concluded by extending heartfelt Dhanteras greetings to everyone.
The message offered a reminder that while material prosperity is an important part of the festival, emotional well-being and the presence of loved ones are just as significant. His post resonated with the broader spirit of the occasion, which encourages people to welcome happiness and positivity into their lives.
Akshay Kumar Wishes Prosperity and Good Fortune
Akshay Kumar also joined the celebrations by sharing a festive greeting for his social media followers. The actor posted a message invoking the blessings of Goddess Lakshmi for his fans and their families.
His greeting read, "May Goddess Lakshmi bless you and your family with prosperity and good fortune. Happy Dhanteras."
The message reflected one of the central beliefs associated with the festival: seeking blessings for financial stability, abundance and happiness. Goddess Lakshmi is traditionally worshipped during the Diwali festivities, with devotees praying for prosperity and well-being.
Akshay's simple yet warm greeting quickly added to the festive mood, as fans joined in celebrating the occasion.
Shilpa Shetty and Sonali Bendre Join the Celebrations
Actors Shilpa Shetty and Sonali Bendre were also among the celebrities who marked Dhanteras on social media. Both shared festival-related pictures and extended wishes to their followers.
Their posts reflected the celebratory atmosphere surrounding the occasion, as people across the country prepared for the upcoming Diwali festivities. Social media once again became a platform for celebrities to connect with fans and share moments of happiness during the festive season.
While the messages and posts varied, the common sentiment was one of positivity, prosperity and togetherness.
Dhanteras Marks the Beginning of Diwali Celebrations
Dhanteras, also known as Dhantrayodashi, is observed on the thirteenth day of the Krishna Paksha in the Hindu month of Kartik. It marks the beginning of the five-day Diwali festival and holds religious significance for devotees.
According to Hindu tradition, the day is associated with the appearance of Lord Dhanvantari during the Samudra Manthan. Lord Dhanvantari is worshipped as the deity of Ayurveda and health. Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Kuber are also worshipped on this occasion, with devotees seeking blessings for prosperity and abundance.
Buying gold, silver, utensils and other new items is considered auspicious by many families. However, the festival is not limited to shopping. People clean and decorate their homes, light lamps and offer prayers for the health and happiness of their families.
This year, the festive greetings from Rajpal Yadav, Akshay Kumar, Shilpa Shetty and Sonali Bendre brought a touch of celebrity warmth to the celebrations. Rajpal's reflection on the value of relationships and good health, alongside Akshay's wishes for prosperity, highlighted the different ways in which the spirit of Dhanteras can be expressed.
As the country moves into the wider Diwali celebrations, these messages serve as a reminder that the festival is about more than material possessions. Family, good health, peace and shared happiness remain at the heart of the occasion.
