Bollywood News: While many Bollywood actresses are known for their bold on-screen looks and glamorous appearances, there are a few who have always stood by their personal boundaries and values — one such name is Moushumi Chatterjee. The veteran actress, known for her strong screen presence and graceful charm, once found herself in tears after being asked to wear revealing clothes for a film shoot.

In a heartfelt revelation from an old interview, Moushumi shared how a particular costume on a film set left her deeply uncomfortable. The actress recalled being handed a backless blouse and a short ghaghra by the costume designer, and her immediate reaction was one of emotional breakdown.

“I felt completely exposed. It was as if I was naked,” Moushumi confessed. Unable to hold back her emotions, she started crying on set.

Saved by Support: Her Husband Stepped In

At a time when young actresses often felt pressure to fit into the industry’s expectations, Moushumi found strength in her husband’s support. Seeing her distressed, her husband gently comforted her and encouraged her to stay calm and true to herself. She eventually gathered the courage and completed the film but never compromised her comfort again.

Moushumi, who began her career as a child artist at the age of 10 in the 1967 film Balika Badhu, has worked with some of the biggest names in the industry. Despite the glamorous standards of her time, she remained firm about her clothing choices, often appearing in saris and salwar suits.

In fact, her principles once led her to walk away from a prominent opportunity — she turned down a role in Dharmendra’s film Guddi because she was asked to wear a short skirt.

A Woman of Grace and Conviction

Moushumi Chatterjee’s story is a rare reminder of a time when personal ethics were often tested in the glamour world. Married at just 15 to Jayant Mukherjee, she managed both her family and career with remarkable dignity. A mother to two daughters, Moushumi continues to be respected for her graceful image and strong values.

In an era of rapid transformations in cinema, her voice still resonates with those who believe in staying true to oneself—on and off screen.
