Arijit Singh, renowned for his melodious voice and heartfelt songs in Bollywood, has captivated audiences worldwide. His repertoire includes both soulful ballads filled with the pain of love and upbeat tracks like “Main Tera Boyfriend.” However, in the era of artificial intelligence, even his voice has been misused. In a significant development, Arijit Singh has received relief from the Bombay High Court regarding this matter.

The Bombay High Court has ruled in favor of Arijit Singh, stating that no AI tools can use a celebrity’s voice or image without their consent. Doing so would infringe upon their personality rights.

Arijit Singh Filed a Petition

Arijit Singh had filed a petition claiming that AI platforms were mimicking his voice, mannerisms, and other attributes to create voice recordings. These recordings were edited using AI tools. On July 26, Justice Riyaz Chagla, in his interim order, restrained eight online platforms from using Arijit Singh’s personality rights. He also ordered the removal of all such content and voice tools.

Arijit’s lawyer, Hiren Kamod, stated that the singer has not endorsed any brands in recent years. The court concurred that the singer deserved interim relief. The judge remarked, “What concerns the court is that celebrities are targeted by unauthorized AI content.”
