Ameesha Patel’s family has reportedly been hit by a jewellery theft at her parents’ residence in Mumbai’s Churchgate area. Jewellery worth approximately ₹5 lakh was reported missing from the house, following which Mumbai Police launched an investigation.
A 40-year-old domestic worker has now been arrested in connection with the alleged theft after Ameesha’s mother, Asha Patel, filed a complaint with the Marine Drive Police.

According to police-based reports, the case involves a diamond-studded gold bangle that was allegedly stolen from the residence. The investigation is still underway, and the jewellery has not yet been recovered.
Domestic Worker Arrested in the Case
The accused has been identified as Seema Ghate, a 40-year-old woman from the Palghar/Virar area. Police said she had been working as a domestic helper at Asha Patel’s residence for around one-and-a-half years.
Following the complaint, investigators began looking into people who had access to the house. The crime detection team eventually traced Ghate to Virar and took her into custody.
She was subsequently produced before a court, which remanded her to police custody until September 15. Police are continuing to investigate the alleged theft and are also checking whether the accused has any previous criminal record.
Jewellery Was Reportedly Stolen Months Ago
According to the latest police-based reports, the alleged theft took place in January 2026.
Asha Patel reportedly suspected Ghate’s involvement and had allegedly been asking her for several months to admit to the theft and return the missing jewellery.
When the jewellery was reportedly not returned, Asha approached the Marine Drive Police and formally lodged a complaint.
The case was initially registered against an unidentified woman. Investigators then worked to establish the identity of the suspected person and eventually traced Ghate to Virar.
The Missing Bangle Has Not Been Recovered
The jewellery reportedly involved a gold bangle studded with diamonds, valued at around ₹5 lakh.
While police have arrested the domestic worker in connection with the case, the bangle itself has not yet been recovered. Authorities are continuing their efforts to locate the missing jewellery.
The police are also examining the circumstances surrounding the alleged theft and whether there is any previous criminal record associated with the accused.
As the investigation is ongoing, the allegations against the arrested woman remain subject to the legal process.
Ameesha Patel’s Parents Live in Churchgate
The residence belongs to Ameesha Patel’s parents, Asha Patel and Amit Patel, and is located in Mumbai’s Churchgate area. Ameesha’s brother, actor Ashmit Patel, is also part of the family.
The incident has attracted attention because of Ameesha Patel’s long association with the Hindi film industry. However, the actress herself has not been reported as directly involved in the alleged theft.
The complaint was filed by her mother, after which the Marine Drive Police began investigating the matter.
Police Investigation Continues
The Marine Drive Police are currently focused on recovering the missing jewellery and establishing the complete circumstances of the alleged theft.
Investigators first registered the case against an unidentified woman before tracing the suspected accused through their investigation. The arrest followed after the police located Ghate in Virar.
Her court remand until September 15 gives investigators additional time to question her and pursue leads regarding the missing bangle.
