Actor Zahid Ali, The Indian Godzilla of Bollywood… on the mark

Mumbai-born actor Zahid Ali has carved a unique niche for himself in the Indian entertainment industry, earning the moniker “Indian Godzilla” on social media. Known for his powerful portrayals across films, television, web series, and advertisements, Ali has consistently demonstrated his versatility and dedication to the craft.

Zahid Ali’s journey in the world of acting began with the esteemed ANK Theatre Group under the guidance of the late Shri Dinesh Thakur. As a repertory artist for a decade, he honed his skills in stage performance, eventually catching the eye of veteran actress Deepti Naval. His breakthrough came when Bollywood’s legendary filmmaker Subhash Ghai introduced him in the magnum opus Saudagar, where he played the young Dilip Kumar (Veeru/Veer Singh).

Zahid Ali has delivered several memorable performances in Bollywood films. One of his most notable roles was that of Brigadier Baig, the primary antagonist in Bhuj: The Pride of India, where he shared screen space with Ajay Devgn, Sonakshi Sinha, Sanjay Dutt, and Nora Fatehi. His ability to embody intense villainous characters also shone through in Alibaba Daastan-e-Kabul, where he played the menacing Zia Abdali.

Zahid Ali’s contribution to the digital space has been equally impressive. In the Vipul Amrutlal Shah-produced web series Bhed-Bhram, he portrays DIG Khan, adding depth and intrigue to the thriller. His portrayal of Dr. Gupta, the hospital dean and antagonist in MX Player’s Choukhat, further reinforced his dominance in the OTT landscape. He also left a lasting impact as superstar Mukesh in Shaitan Haveli on Amazon Prime Video.

With an extensive career in Indian television, Ali has been part of some of the most popular sitcoms and serials. His presence has graced shows like Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, Chidiya Ghar, Madhubala, Jodha Akbar, Aladdin, and Alibaba Daastan-e-Kabul, among many others. His ability to seamlessly transition between historical dramas, mythological shows, and contemporary sitcoms has cemented his reputation as a multifaceted actor.

Beyond cinema and television, Zahid Ali has been a preferred choice for major brand endorsements. He has starred in ad campaigns for renowned brands like Aqualite Shoes alongside Shah Rukh Khan, Pharmeasy, Tata Iodised Salt, and Mountain Dew. His compelling on-screen presence and natural charisma have made him a favorite in the advertising industry.

Zahid Ali’s dedication to his craft has earned him numerous accolades. He is a National Award winner and a two-time recipient of the Maharashtra State Urdu Sahitya Academy Award. His talent was further recognized when he was awarded a Gold Medal in Mono-Acting by Mumbai University.
