No Hits in Six Years for Aamir Khan
Aamir Khan hasn’t delivered a hit film in six years. Following the failure of “Thugs of Hindostan,” he had high hopes for “Laal Singh Chaddha,” released in 2022. However, the film couldn’t succeed, partly due to the boycott trends against it. Ram Gopal Varma recently explained why Aamir’s dream project didn’t resonate with the audience.
Ram Gopal Varma’s Insights
Known for his bold opinions, Ram Gopal Varma, the director of iconic films like “Satya,” “Rangeela,” and “Sarkar,” shared his views on the failure of “Laal Singh Chaddha” during an interview with Galatta Plus. He said, “Aamir loved ‘Forrest Gump,’ so ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’ was like a dream project for him. Whether it could have been good or not, I don’t know. But the point is, by the time you reach the end, you’re appealing to an audience that might not have seen ‘Forrest Gump.'”
Why “Laal Singh Chaddha” Failed
Varma further elaborated, “It was essentially Aamir Khan’s film. There should be no history behind it. So, the topic Aamir took from ‘Forrest Gump’ might not have piqued the audience’s interest, but these are all speculations.”
Aamir Khan Upcoming Films
“Laal Singh Chaddha” featured Kareena Kapoor Khan, Naga Chaitanya, Mona Singh, and Manav Vij in key roles. Looking ahead, Aamir Khan will be seen in “Sitaare Zameen Par” and will also appear in Sunny Deol’s film “Lahore 1947.”
