A major fire broke out at Mumbai’s Film City on Monday, October 5, creating panic after videos showing huge flames and thick black smoke surfaced online. The blaze occurred near the sets of Pati Patni Aur Panga 2 and MTV Hustle 5, raising immediate concerns about the safety of actors, artists and crew members working at the location.
Thankfully, both production teams confirmed that everyone was safe and there were no casualties. While the incident caused considerable concern, the available reports indicate that the fire was brought under control without any reported injuries.
1. The Fire Happened Near Two Popular Reality Shows In Film City
The incident took place around the sets of Pati Patni Aur Panga 2 and MTV Hustle 5. Initial social media reports created confusion about whether another major production set in Film City had been affected, but subsequent reports identified the location as being connected to the two reality shows.
The Pati Patni Aur Panga team clarified that the fire was outside its shooting area and that no shoot was taking place there when the incident occurred.
2. MTV Hustle 5 Grand Finale Was Being Shot
The situation was particularly tense because the grand finale of MTV Hustle 5 was reportedly being filmed when the fire broke out.
According to the show’s team, several artists associated with the season were present at the location. Badshah, EPR, MC Square, Paradox and Agsy are among the artists associated with the current season.
The team confirmed that everyone was safe and that people were asked to leave the sets after the incident.
3. No Casualties or Injuries Reported
The biggest relief following the incident is that no casualties were reported.
The Pati Patni Aur Panga 2 team said there was no shooting underway on its set at the time. Meanwhile, the Hustle 5 team confirmed that the artists present during the finale shoot were safe.
The reports also indicate that people at the location were alerted and evacuated after the fire was noticed.
4. Fire Brigade Brought the Blaze Under Control
According to reports from the Indian Express, the blaze broke out at a temporary structure behind Prime Focus Studio in Goregaon’s Film City at around 4 PM. Mumbai Fire Brigade and other emergency agencies responded to the incident, and the fire was brought under control by approximately 4:55 PM.
The fire affected materials including electrical wiring, cables, wooden planks, AC units, bamboo, plastic items, sound equipment and other shooting-related material.
The exact cause of the blaze had not been established in the reports available at the time of publication.
5. Nikita Gandhi Was Also at the Location
Another detail that emerged was that singer Nikita Gandhi was at the location for a paparazzi spotting when the incident occurred.
A source associated with the Hustle 5 team told Hindustan Times that the fire happened while the singer was being photographed by paparazzi.
The incident highlights the unpredictable risks involved at large outdoor and temporary shooting locations, where multiple productions can operate in close proximity.
Confusion Around the Ramayana Set
Interestingly, initial social media reports sparked speculation that the fire had affected the temporary set of Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana, starring Ranbir Kapoor and Sai Pallavi. Later reports clarified that the fire was associated with the Pati Patni Aur Panga 2 and MTV Hustle 5 area instead.
The incident has once again brought attention to safety arrangements at Mumbai’s Film City. While the absence of casualties is a major relief, questions about fire safety and the management of temporary structures are likely to remain in focus following the blaze.
