The Election Commission of India (ECI) has adhered to the Supreme Court’s directive by releasing the much-anticipated electoral bonds data. With the State Bank of India (SBI) submitting the details to the election body, the public now has access to a comprehensive list of donors and their contributions.

Grasim Industries, Megha Engineering, and Piramal Enterprises are among the major names gracing the list. Notable additions include Apollo Tyres, Lakshmi Mittal, Edelweiss, PVR, Keventer, Sula Wine, Welspun, and Sun Pharma. Further amplifying the corporate influence are Torrent Power, Bharti Airtel, DLF Commercial Developers, and Vedanta Ltd.

According to ANI reports, Piramal Enterprises Ltd, Muthoot Finance Limited, Pegasus Properties Private Limited, Finolex Cables Ltd, and Lakshmi Niwas Mittal are significant contributors as well. Edelweiss Housing Finance Ltd, GHCL Ltd, Jindal Poly Films Limited, and ITC Limited round off the notable mentions.

A standout contribution comes from Vedanta Ltd, which donated a substantial Rs. 398 crore via electoral bonds. Bajaj Auto and Sun Pharma Laboratories have also made significant investments, purchasing bonds worth Rs. 25 crore each.

The top position on the SBI bonds list is occupied by Future Gaming And Hotel Services (Lottery Martin), closely followed by Megha Engineering And Infrastructure Ltd. Future Gaming And Hotel Services (Lottery Martin) made a staggering purchase of bonds worth Rs. 1,368 crore, while Megha Engineering And Infrastructure Ltd secured bonds amounting to Rs. 980 crore, as per EC sources.

The data reveals that Future Gaming purchased 1,368 electoral bonds worth Rs. 1 crore each since 2019, accumulating to a total of Rs. 1,368 crore. Other notable donors on the SBI electoral bonds list include Qwik Supply Chain Private Limited, Haldia Energy Limited, Essel Mining and Inds Ltd, Western UP Power Transmission Company Ltd, Keventers Foodpart Infra Limited, Madanlal Limited, and Bharti Airtel Limited.

In terms of recipients, the electoral bonds have largely flowed towards political heavyweights such as BJP, Congress, AIADMK, BRS, Shiv Sena, TDP, YSR Congress, DMK, JDS, NCP, Trinamool Congress, JDU, RJD, AAP, and SP.

The transparency provided by the electoral bonds data sheds light on the financial landscape of political funding, offering insights into the donors and their contributions across denominations ranging from Rs. 1 lakh to Rs. 1 crore, dating back to April 12, 2019.
