Bollywood film of actress Adah Sharma has been dominating the box office since its release on May 5th, despite facing controversy even before its launch and receiving backlash from various organizations and leaders. The political row surrounding The Kerala Story only added to its publicity.
Despite all the challenges, the movie has been performing exceptionally well, with a solid opening day collection followed by a whopping Rs. 11.22 crore collection on Day 2. Early estimates suggest that the movie’s Day 3 earnings are just as impressive.
According to trade analyst Taran Adarsh, The Kerala Story, produced by Vipul Amrutlal Shah, had a splendid Day 3 collection of Rs 16 crore, bringing the total box office collection to Rs 35.25 crore. The film has had an impressive first week at the box office and is likely to slow down over time but still expected to cross the Rs 50 crore mark in the coming days.
Bollywood Movie ‘The Kerala Story’ Controversy
Adah Sharma portrays the character of Fathima Ba, a Hindu Malayali nurse in the movie ‘The Kerala Story’, who is one of the 32,000 women who disappeared from Kerala and were subsequently inducted into ISIS after being compelled to change their faith. The film also exposes the ‘Love Jihad’ propaganda, in which Muslim men lure Hindu girls into embracing Islam and deserting their families.

Following the release of the film’s trailer, a petition was filed against it citing ‘worst kind of hate speech’ and ‘audio-visual propaganda’. Several political leaders criticized the film, alleging that the makers are presenting false claims that the film is based on a real story and that the figure of ‘32000 women’ is fabricated.
