Weak Story

The first half of Zero is flat-out excellent, an unabashed charm-offensive from lead characters. However, the second half of the film is draggy, all thanks to the weak story.

ZERO Reviews: Shah Rukh Khan, Anushka Sharma, and Katrina Kaif starrer romance drama ZERO released today in theaters near you. Shah Rukh Khan plays a vertically challenged character named Bauaa Singh in the film. ZERO directed by Anand L Rai and produced by Gauri Khan. The film also features Tigmanshu Dhulia, Sheeba Chaddha & Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub in pivotal roles. It also saw cameos from many Bollywood stars like Sridevi, Alia Bhatt, Salman Khan, Juhi Chawla, Kajol, R. Madhavan, Abhay Deol, Karishma Kapoor, etc.

Story

The film begins with Bauaa Singh (Shah Rukh Khan), a vertically challenged, who lives in Uttar Pradesh’s Meerut. Bauaa blames his father for his short height. Bauaa is unmarried and looking for a girl to marry. He meets Aafia (Anushka Sharma) and falls in love with her. In the meantime, Bollywood actress Babita Kumari (Katrina Kaif) enters into the life of Baua and Aafia, which triggered another drama.

Acting

Shah Rukh Khan gives his hundred percent to liven up Bauaa’s Character. Anushka Sharma does a wondrous act as Aafia, She contorts her face and angles her lips to deliver her lines. Katrina Kaif gets limited screen presence in the film, but she does her best to carry the angst of a movie star whose life is a series of accidents.

Verdict

The first half of Zero is flat-out excellent, an unabashed charm-offensive from lead characters. However, the second half of the film is draggy, all thanks to the weak story.  The best part is that the film characters have not allowed their physical challenges to dominate their temperament and temperament. The performances given by Shah Rukh Khan and Katrina Kaif make it work for the significant part.

Overall, Anand L Rai’s Zero has nothing new to offer. Bollywood Mascot gives 2 stars rating out of 5 to ZERO.
