The Norwegian Film School was established by an act of the Norwegian Parliament and began operations as a faculty at Lillehammer University College in 1997.

HISTORY Of The Norwegian Film School
The Norwegian Film School first opened its doors in 1997, and it has since graduated more than 350 film students. The School currently provides a three-year Bachelor of Fine Arts degree, a two-year Master of Fine Arts degree, and an artistic research fellowship programme.
The bachelor’s degree programme is located in Lillehammer, while the master’s degree programme, fellowship programme, and continuing and further education programmes are based in Oslo.
Admission in The Norwegian Film School
Admission occurs every two years, with the next master’s degree admission in 2022 and the next bachelor’s degree admission in the spring of 2023. All applicants must submit an assignment linked to the discipline for which they are applying, and approved applicants will then proceed to an exhaustive series of further examinations and interviews.
Because it is tough to get a spot and most applicants have experience and/or previous studies, the average age for beginning a bachelor’s degree is 25 years.
