“Poacher” is managed by Emmy Award-winning filmmaker Richie Mehta and features a stellar ensemble cast, including Nimisha Sajayan, Roshan Mathew, and Dibyendu Bhattacharya. The web series centers around a group of Indian Forest Service officers, NGO workers, and police constables who risk their lives to expose the gruesome reality of ivory poaching in the country.

In a chilling awareness video released by Prime Video, Alia Bhatt introduces the audience to the eerie silence and morbid aura that has engulfed the once serene forest setting. The video portrays a crime scene, complete with a loaded rifle, bullet casings, and the haunting silhouette of a lifeless body. Alia’s narration emphasizes the horrors that have unfolded in the forest, prompting viewers to reflect on the equal value of all lives, human or animal, as she passionately asserts, “Murder is Murder.”

The series aims to bring attention to the heinous crimes committed against voiceless beings that often go unpunished. It underscores the sanctity of life, urging society to recognize and condemn acts of violence against both humans and animals alike. The forest, once a haven for elephants and diverse wildlife, has become a battleground against ruthless poachers, pushing many species to the brink of extinction.

“Poacher” is not just a gripping crime drama but also a poignant exploration of the profound impact of poaching on the ecosystem. Executive produced by QC Entertainment’s Edward H. Hamm Jr., Raymond Mansfield, and Sean McKittrick, in collaboration with Suitable Pictures, Poor Man’s Productions, and Eternal Sunshine Productions, the series is set to premiere worldwide on Prime Video on February 23, 2024.

As Alia Bhatt delves into the production realm with a purpose-driven project, “Poacher” promises to be an eye-opening experience, compelling viewers to confront the grim realities of ivory poaching and advocate for the protection of all life forms.
