South is overshadowing on Bollywood, lessons should be taken from Telugu film industry

Bollywood films are performing poorly at the box office. There are only eight Hindi films that have achieved box office success in the first eight months of 2022. One film after the other is a flop. The stars who used to dominate the box office are constantly piling up. Is Akshay Kumar and Aamir Khan together? Is Ranveer and Ranbir… they’ve all failed.

Simultaneously, short films from the South film industry are gaining popularity among Hindi audiences. KGF Chapter 2 is a Kannada film, and RRR is a Telugu film, and they are two of the biggest successes in the Hindi belt this year. Despite this success, the Telugu film industry made a major announcement last month, prohibiting film production.

To get the film industry back on track in the midst of the Corona virus pandemic, the industry decided to halt production and restructure the industry so that no one is harmed, from producers and artists to workers. The results of that brainstorming are now available.

South Industry has signed this agreement with OTT

According to AndhraBoxoffice.Com, the timing of OTT streaming of films is the most important decision made by the Telugu film chamber. According to the decision, every Telugu film will adhere to a two-month window in the agreement with OTT, i.e. no Telugu film will be available on OTT before eight weeks of its theatrical release.

Bollywood doesn’t have any control over it

Let us remind you that a four-week window was followed prior to this. In the Hindi film industry, there is still a four to eight week window. Shamshera, from Yash Raj Films, will be available on Prime Video on August 19, and in theatres on July 22. There are numerous other examples.

Keeping snack prices in multiplexes under control

The second critical step is to negotiate with multiplex owners to lower the prices of snacks in theatres and multiplexes so that moviegoers who watch movies in theatres are not burdened with their wallets and are motivated to visit theatres. The third critical step is to reach a cost-cutting agreement with the Movie Artistes Association, and the fourth step is to set employee wages.

When it comes to Bollywood films, The Kashmir Files, starring Anupam Kher, has been the biggest success this year. The film grossed a total of 252 crores. Kartik Aaryan’s Bhool Bhulaiyaa came in second with a net collection of 185 crores. Alia Bhatt’s Gangubai Kathiawadi came in third with 126 crores at the box office.
