Renowned actress Manisha Koirala, who portrays a pivotal character named “Mallika Jaan” in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s web series ‘Heeramandi,’ recently opened up about a touching moment involving veteran actress Rekha.
In a recent interview, Koirala revealed that initially, she was not Bhansali’s first choice for the role of Mallika Jaan. She shared that the role was offered to Rekha nearly two decades ago. However, when Bhansali approached Koirala for the character, it was Rekha’s supportive words that left her emotional.
According to Koirala, Rekha expressed her admiration for Bhansali’s vision for “Heera Mandi” and encouraged her to take on the role. Rekha even went as far as to say that if she didn’t accept the role, Koirala should. Touched by Rekha’s gesture, Koirala couldn’t hold back her tears and expressed her love and admiration for the legendary actress.
