HALLA: The Beginning, A Mythological Epic with a Modern Twist
Maheshwar Film International Pvt. Ltd. is all set to transport audiences into a world where ancient mythology meets contemporary storytelling with its ambitious project “HALLA: ANTASYAH AARAMBHAH (The Beginning).”
The film reimagines the legendary tale of Samudra Manthan—the cosmic churning of the ocean—but with a fresh perspective. At the heart of the story lies a new hero, born from Halahal (the poison of creation), whose journey of doubt, resilience, and sacrifice redefines destiny itself.
Writer Saurabh Mishra, in his twenties, has conceptualized the film with a bold thought: “What if Samudra Manthan had a forgotten hero?” His original narrative, backed by extensive research into scriptures and folklore, brings an emotional depth rarely explored in mythological cinema. “HALLA isn’t just about gods and treasures—it’s about choices, struggles, and transformation,” Mishra explains.
The film is produced by Manoj Maheshwar, founder and MD of Maheshwar Film International, who has over two decades of experience as an actor, director, and producer. He describes HALLA as both a grand spectacle and an intimate human story: “We wanted to preserve the essence of mythology while making it feel alive and urgent for modern audiences.”
Award-winning filmmaker Bhasker Ram, known for Dil, Dosty, Duniyadari (Marathi) and Whatsapp Romeo (Telugu), helms the project. Drawing on his work with mega-productions like Baahubali, Ram promises cinematic scale combined with deep emotional resonance.
The technical crew adds further weight to the project:
-
Ranjith Mogusani (DOP) brings his signature visual grandeur.
-
Ramakrishna (Production Designer), celebrated for his Telugu cinema world-building, shapes the mythic landscapes.
-
Ranjeet (Technical Associate) ensures innovation and precision at every stage.
-
Producers Suraj Singh Mas, Abhishek Raj, and Rudransh contribute industry expertise and vision.
-
Co-writer Dilip Keshav, a seasoned actor and storyteller, lends cultural authenticity to the screenplay.
Authenticity is a cornerstone of the production. The team has delved into ancient texts, regional folklore, and traditional practices to recreate the mythos, while also infusing it with modern pacing and emotional relatability. From costumes to rituals, every detail aims to strike a balance between reverence for tradition and relevance for today’s audience.
At its core, HALLA is not just a mythological fantasy but a story of resilience. It explores how light can emerge from darkness, and how courage and self-discovery shape identity. “We hope audiences leave the theatre not only awestruck but also inspired to find strength in their own adversities,” says the creative team.
With its fusion of timeless mythology and human drama, HALLA: The Beginning is poised to be one of the most awaited epic sagas in Indian cinema.
