IND vs ENG: Former Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Dinesh Karthik has become a part of the coaching setup for the England Lions team during their tour of India. The announcement was made before the commencement of the England Lions’ tour, indicating Karthik’s involvement in assisting with their preparations.
Dinesh Karthik will serve as the batting consultant for the England Lions team during their tour of India. He will collaborate with the main coach Neil Killeen and assistant coaches Richard Dawson and Carl Hopkinson. Notably, the England Lions have included Karthik in their coaching staff for this tour, where he is expected to contribute his expertise for the betterment of the team.
The coaching staff, including Dinesh Karthik, will be actively involved in preparing the England Lions team for the upcoming matches in India. Karthik is set to stay with the team for a duration of nine days, providing valuable insights and guidance to the players as they gear up for the challenges in Indian conditions.
In addition to his role with the England Lions, Dinesh Karthik is set to join the Melbourne Renegades as an assistant coach in the Big Bash League (BBL). Starting on January 18, Karthik will take up the position of assistant coach for the Melbourne Renegades, contributing his knowledge and experience to the team.
The England Lions team is scheduled to play practice matches against India A in Ahmedabad as part of their preparation. The inclusion of Dinesh Karthik in the coaching staff reflects the team’s commitment to having a strong coaching group to guide and support the players during the tour.
Mo Bobat, the Performance Director for England, expressed confidence in the coaching team, stating, “It is excellent to have such a strong coaching group to support our players in what promises to be a challenging series against India A. The coaching group brings a wealth of experience.”
The England Lions squad includes players such as Josh Bohannon (captain), Casey Aldridge, Brydon Carse, Jack Carson, James Coles, Matt Fisher, Keaton Jennings, Tom Loten, Alex Lees, Dan Mousley, Calem Parkinson, Matt Potts, Ollie Price, James Rew, and Ollie Robinson.
Dinesh Karthik’s inclusion in the coaching staff of England Lions adds an extra dimension to their preparations for the tour of India. His dual role in coaching for both the England Lions and the Melbourne Renegades highlights his commitment to contributing to the development of cricket talent across different platforms.
