Katy Perry Returns from Space, Kisses Earth in Emotional Tribute to Daughter Daisy

Pop superstar Katy Perry has made history as part of Blue Origin’s first all-female spaceflight, returning to Earth with an emotional gesture that captured hearts worldwide. Upon safely landing in the Texas desert, Perry knelt and kissed the ground, a poignant tribute to her four-year-old daughter, Daisy, whom she shares with actor Orlando Bloom. Clutching a single daisy flower, Perry symbolized strength and resilience, qualities she associates with both the flower and her daughter.​

The 11-minute suborbital journey aboard Blue Origin’s New Shepard rocket took Perry and five other trailblazing women—journalist Gayle King, aerospace engineer Aisha Bowe, civil rights activist Amanda Nguyen, film producer Kerianne Flynn, and mission leader Lauren Sánchez—to the edge of space. Crossing the Kármán line, they experienced several minutes of weightlessness and a breathtaking view of Earth from approximately 62 miles above.

During the flight, Perry serenaded her fellow astronauts with a rendition of Louis Armstrong’s “What a Wonderful World,” choosing the classic over her own hits to honor the planet and the shared human experience. She described the voyage as “the highest high,” second only to motherhood, and expressed a newfound appreciation for the interconnectedness of life on Earth.

The mission, Blue Origin’s 11th human flight, was not only a personal milestone for the participants but also a significant moment in space exploration history.
