Akshay Kumar’s much-anticipated courtroom drama Kesari Chapter 2: The Untold Story of Jallianwala Bagh has made a powerful entry at the global box office, raking in ₹15 crore worldwide on its opening day. The film collected ₹7.75 crore net in India and approximately ₹5.75 crore from overseas markets, giving it a solid start despite moderate early occupancies.

Morning shows witnessed around 12-13% occupancy, but the film saw significant growth by evening and night, where attendance rose to nearly 28%. This jump is largely attributed to strong word-of-mouth and positive reviews from early viewers who praised the film’s gripping narrative and powerful performances.

Directed by Karan Singh Tyagi, Kesari Chapter 2 brings to life a lesser-known but impactful legal battle that followed the Jallianwala Bagh massacre. Akshay Kumar plays the role of the fearless C. Sankaran Nair, while R. Madhavan portrays Advocate Neville McKinley. Ananya Panday appears as Dilreet Gill, adding a fresh layer to the cast.

While the opening figures are slightly below those of Akshay Kumar’s last hit Sky Force, which earned over ₹20 crore on Day 1, Kesari 2 has performed better than many other recent releases, including Jaat.

With the weekend ahead, trade analysts expect the film to show steady growth, especially given its emotional subject matter and patriotic appeal. If the positive reception continues, Kesari Chapter 2 could emerge as one of the stronger performers this month.
