Apne 2 Still in the Works, Producer Confirms Film to Continue as a Tribute to Dharmendra

Rumours about the cancellation of Apne 2 created disappointment among fans, especially after the passing of Bollywood legend Dharmendra. Many believed the emotional family drama had come to a halt. But now, producer Deepak Mukut has officially confirmed that the film is very much alive — and will be made in honour of the late superstar.

Addressing reports of the sequel being shelved, Producer Deepak Mukut shared that the team is actively working on the project, and there has never been a plan to drop it. According to him, the movie remains an important and emotional project for their banner.

He emphasized that Apne 2 will be completed with the same enthusiasm and love with which it was first planned. The makers are progressing quietly behind the scenes to ensure that the final output truly reflects the heart of the franchise.

Apne 2, A Tribute to Dharmendra Ji’s Legacy

Mukut also expressed that Apne 2 will always be connected to Dharmendra, his energy, and his soulful bond with the Deol family on-screen. The sequel will serve as a special tribute to the actor’s long-lasting legacy and the deep audience connection he created throughout his career.

He assured fans that Dharmendra’s presence will continue to be felt strongly in the film, even if he is not physically part of the shoot anymore.

Story Going Through Creative Restructuring

Earlier, director Anil Sharma had made a statement suggesting that making Apne 2 without Dharmendra felt impossible. This sparked the cancellation rumours. But the producers have now clarified that instead of shelving, they are reworking the story to adapt to the situation while keeping its emotional core intact.

Originally announced in 2020, the sequel was planned to feature three generations of the Deol family — Dharmendra, Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol, and Karan Deol — just like the 2007 hit Apne, which celebrated family bonds and strong emotional values.

The restructured version will focus on preserving those same sentiments that made the franchise a fan favourite.

With confirmation coming directly from the producer, fans can now look forward to Apne 2 making its way to the big screen. The film aims to honour Dharmendra’s cinematic journey and celebrate the essence of the Deol family that audiences have loved for years.
