Salman Khan Case: Mumbai Police Starts Extradition Process for Lawrence Bishnoi’s Brother
Mumbai Police has begun the extradition process to bring Anmol Bishnoi, brother of notorious gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, from the United States. Anmol is accused in the shooting incident that took place outside Bollywood superstar Salman Khan’s residence on April 14. In the early morning hours, two individuals on a motorbike fired four rounds near Khan’s Galaxy Apartment, although no one was harmed. Anmol Bishnoi is alleged to have orchestrated this incident and has been associated with other high-profile cases, including the murders of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala and Baba Siddique.

A senior officer from the Crime Branch of Mumbai Police stated that an arrest warrant under the Maharashtra Control of Organized Crime Act (MCOCA) had already been issued against Anmol. Additionally, a Red Corner Notice was circulated for international authorities to assist in locating him abroad. The police are currently awaiting some final court documents before formally sending an extradition request to the central government. This request was approved by a special court on October 16.
In a move to accelerate his capture, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) recently declared a bounty of ₹10 lakh for information leading to Anmol’s arrest. Following the April shooting incident, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde personally contacted Salman Khan and advised Mumbai’s police commissioner to enhance Khan’s security.

The Lawrence Bishnoi gang claimed responsibility for the attack. Anmol, in a social media post, hinted that Khan might face further threats in the future. Following these developments, Khan’s security level was upgraded to Y+, with a dedicated team of 11 personnel, including commandos and personal security officers (PSOs), guarding him at all times. His vehicle now has bulletproof protection and escort vehicles to ensure his safety.
Previous Threats to Salman Khan:
-
- June 2022: Salman’s father, Salim Khan, found an anonymous letter threatening both him and his son during his morning walk. The letter stated, “We will make you like Moosewala,” referring to the slain singer. Salim reported it to the police, who registered a case.
- Last Year: A 16-year-old boy from Rajasthan, identifying himself as “Rocky Bhai,” called Mumbai Police, threatening to harm Khan on April 30. He was detained for questioning.
- Last Year: Dhakadram from Jodhpur sent three emails to Khan’s official account, warning that Khan’s “number is next” and he would meet the same fate as Sidhu Moosewala if he visited Jodhpur.
- January 2024: Two men attempted to break into Khan’s farmhouse by cutting through fencing. When apprehended, they claimed to be fans of Khan but were found with fake identification, leading to an FIR against them.
Anmol Bishnoi has allegedly been managing the gang’s finances and logistics from the United States, in collaboration with other gang members like Vikram Barad. As per an NIA charge sheet from May 2023, Lawrence Bishnoi and Goldy Brar handle key decisions for the gang, while Sachin Thapan, another relative, oversees recruitment and planning. The gang operates on a hierarchical “chain system,” where each member communicates only with their immediate superior to minimize information leaks.
Lawrence Bishnoi, for example, refrains from direct communication with shooters and speaks only with trusted gang leaders like Goldy, Sachin, and Anmol. This structure means that when a gang member is caught, they often have limited information about other associates, making it difficult for authorities to track the entire gang.
Currently, Sachin Thapan and Vikram Barad are in police custody. Mumbai Police hopes to gather critical evidence against the network through Anmol’s extradition and subsequent interrogation.
