Sushant Singh’s Former House Help, Samuel Miranda Wins Supreme Court Relief to Travel Abroad
In a significant ruling, the Supreme Court provided substantial relief to Samuel Miranda, former house help of the late actor Sushant Singh Rajput. The court upheld the Bombay High Court’s decision to cancel the Look Out Circular (LOC) issued against him, dating back to April 10. This means Miranda is now free to travel abroad without restrictions. The Supreme Court also dismissed the central government’s appeal challenging this decision.
While rejecting the appeal, the court observed that neither side was present during the hearing, and the appeal lacked any compelling grounds to justify reconsideration.

Background of the Case
In 2024, Samuel Miranda had filed a petition with the Bombay High Court, requesting the cancellation of an LOC issued against him by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in 2020. He argued that the LOC, which has been pending for three and a half years, has unjustly affected his right to travel abroad, thus infringing on his fundamental rights. Furthermore, he highlighted that no chargesheet or progress report has been submitted by the authorities in this prolonged period.
Bombay High Court’s Verdict
On April 10, the Bombay High Court sided with Miranda, canceling the LOC issued by the CBI. The court stated that the LOC was issued solely based on an FIR, with no evidence suggesting that Miranda was trying to evade arrest or avoid participating in the investigation. Additionally, the CBI had not applied for any renewal of the LOC or presented any new evidence to the court after one year, which was the stipulated timeframe for LOC review.
Previous Relief for Rhea Chakraborty
Notably, Rhea Chakraborty, the late actor’s girlfriend, along with her family, had also received relief from the Supreme Court in a similar matter. The court dismissed an appeal by the CBI against the Bombay High Court’s decision to quash the LOC issued against Rhea, her father, and her brother. During the case proceedings, Supreme Court Justice BR Gavai cautioned the agency, remarking, “Such petitions, seemingly filed because of the high-profile nature of the individuals involved, will bear a considerable cost.”
