South Indian cinema legend Rajinikanth and Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan’s film Vettaiyan has achieved an impressive milestone by crossing ₹200 crore in global box office collections within just six days. Directed by TJ Gnanavel, the movie has been performing well, but it still lags behind the record-breaking collections of the blockbuster GOT, which earned ₹447 crore worldwide.

Strong Start but Slower Growth on Day 6

According to trade reports from Sacnilk, Vettaiyan earned ₹4.3 crore on its sixth day at the box office, bringing the total domestic earnings to ₹133.8 crore. With international earnings contributing ₹69 crore, the film’s overall worldwide collection has now surpassed ₹202.8 crore. While the movie made a strong start, its momentum has begun to slow, signaling a possible dip in future collections.

Despite this, the film’s performance has been noteworthy, thanks in part to the highly-anticipated return of Rajinikanth and Amitabh Bachchan on the big screen after 33 years. Their chemistry has captured the audience’s attention, with critics especially praising Bachchan’s role. Rana Daggubati also plays a crucial part in the film, adding depth to the narrative.

Rajinikanth  film Joins the 200-Crore Club

Vettaiyan officially entered the prestigious 200-crore club on its sixth day, solidifying its success. While it has performed remarkably well in India, collecting ₹133 crore, the overseas market has also shown strong support with ₹69 crore in earnings. However, Vettaiyan still has a long way to go to match GOT’s remarkable ₹447-crore total. GOT featured other major South stars, including Rana Daggubati and Fahadh Faasil, contributing to its massive box office success.

Competition and Upcoming Releases

Although Vettaiyan continues to run in theaters, its box office journey may face challenges with two major releases lined up for Diwali. On November 1, Ajay Devgn’s Singham Again and Kartik Aaryan’s Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 are set to hit the big screen. Both films belong to popular franchises, and their release is likely to shift audience focus, potentially impacting Vettaiyan’s collection in the coming weeks.
