Bollywood News: Swara Bhasker’s versatility as an actress is commendable. From portraying a character like Sakshi Soni in Veere Di Wedding to playing a house help in Nil Battey Sannata, she can effortlessly embody any role and make it believable. Perhaps this is why she was approached to play the role of Shah Rukh Khan’s mother on screen.
During an interview, Swara Bhasker revealed that she was a big fan of Shah Rukh Khan and had requested him to recommend her for the film ‘Zero’ to director Aanand L Rai. However, when she was offered the role of playing Shah Rukh Khan’s mother, she turned it down, despite it being a dream come true for her, citing a valid reason for doing so.

Swara Bhasker talked about her admiration for Shah Rukh Khan and how she got an opportunity to work with him in the movie Zero, in a candid interview with Filmfare. She mentioned how Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge had a great impact on her life and how she loved SRK’s films. She then shared the story of how she landed a role in the film Zero.
Swara Bhasker expressed her desire to work with Shah Rukh Khan to him during the filming of Zero in the presence of director Aanand L Rai. She requested him to cast her in the film but with the condition that she didn’t want to play the role of his sister or daughter. However, to her surprise, Anand L Rai responded with an unexpected offer, saying “Beta, I can only offer you his mother’s role!”

After Aanand L Rai offered Swara Bhasker the role of Shah Rukh Khan’s mother in the film Zero, she was faced with a difficult decision. While it was an opportunity of a lifetime to share the screen with the King of Bollywood, Swara declined the offer as she didn’t want to ruin her chances of being cast opposite him in a romantic role in the future. Eventually, the role of Shah Rukh Khan’s mother was played by Sheeba Chaddha in the film.
Before being offered the role of Shah Rukh Khan’s mother in Zero, Swara Bhasker played Salman Khan’s sister in Sooraj Barjatya’s Prem Ratan Dhan Payo. However, given the craze for Shah Rukh Khan’s romantic roles, it’s understandable that Swara had always been a big fan of the actor who had played iconic romantic characters like Raj, winning the hearts of many women.
